Action Chooses XPO Logistics to Manage Key Sites for Logistics and Distribution in France

Lyon, France | October 26, 2017

XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of logistics and transport solutions, has expanded its partnership with international non-food discounter Action Nederland BV. XPO will manage two key warehousing sites for Action, and become a major supply chain provider for the company in France.

XPO has initiated operations at a new, 45,000 square metre warehouse built by Action in Labastide-Saint-Pierre in the southwest of France. The site has approximately 215 employees, delivers to over 50 stores in southern France and works with over 250 suppliers. In addition, XPO will begin managing an existing site for the company in Moissy Cramayel in the Île-de-France region this month, where nearly 200 colleagues will prepare shipments to over 130 shops in northern France. Action expects the number of stores served by these two distribution centres to grow significantly in the near future, as the company plans to develop its network. The transport support provided by XPO to Action across France involves approximately 175 trucks, 195 double-deck trailers and 200 drivers.

“We are pleased to collaborate closely with XPO in the French market,” said Sander van der Laan, chief executive officer of Action. “Our relationship with XPO strengthens our resources in a key country for us. It supports our ambition to delight more and more customers with our broad and ever-changing range of products at the lowest prices.”

Action is a fast-growing discount chain of primarily household items, with more than 1,000 stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria and Poland. The company made a strategic decision to consolidate its supply chain operations with XPO in France, its fastest-growing market, to facilitate its expansion and realize efficiencies.

Malcolm Wilson, chief executive officer, XPO Logistics Europe, said, “We’re excited to manage the new warehouse at Labastide and the Moissy Cramayel site. Our extensive experience in logistics operations for consumer goods will ensure a smooth transition to a more efficient and technology-rich supply chain operation for Action in France.”
