GXO further establishes itself as the leading pure-play contract logistics provider in Spain

Including sites in Madrid and Málaga, GXO now manages seven Carrefour warehouses in Spain

GXO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: GXO), the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider, announced today that Carrefour will outsource its logistics operations in Getafe (Madrid) and Málaga to GXO. With this agreement, GXO will now manage a total of seven logistics sites for Carrefour in Spain, including the first Carrefour site dedicated to ecommerce in all controlled-temperature products under the Salvesen brand, making GXO the French multinational retailer’s preferred partner in that country.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with Carrefour and to welcome new colleagues to GXO,” said Rui Marques, Managing Director, GXO Iberia. “The integration of their logistics will allow us to reinforce our commitment to continuous improvement, increase our technological and management capabilities at Carrefour facilities and grow our presence throughout the country, where we already manage 46 logistics facilities. GXO has extensive experience supporting the commercial activities of some of the most complex and fastest growing businesses in the world, such as Carrefour, with innovative solutions and advanced technology tailored to each customer.”

The agreement to manage logistics at the two additional Carrefour sites strengthens GXO’s presence across Spain. Including nearly 20,000 square meters and more than 38,000 square meters of space in Getafe and Málaga, respectively, GXO now manages a total of 270 000 square meters of space for Carrefour and will retain the company’s workforce at both sites, totaling approximately 170 in Malaga and 50 in Madrid. These sites were recently renovated with innovative tech solutions designed specifically to meet Carrefour’s needs. GXO already provides automated solutions and robotics at its other Carrefour-dedicated sites, including a robotic arm that doubles throughput for case sortation and picking and visual scanning technology able to increase barcode scanning productivity and accuracy.

GXO’s industry-leading automation and technology are key differentiators, helping to drive more value-added solutions across an increasing number of verticals. In 2021, the company deployed more than 2,000 new pieces of technology across its sites, up 100% year-over-year. GXO is currently testing 200 new technologies from around 100 new suppliers.
