GXO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: GXO), the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider, has been awarded the prestigious prize Il Logistico dell’Anno in Italy. The prize, awarded by Assologistica, Assologistica Cultura e Formazione and Euromerci, gives national recognition to companies that have implemented important innovation projects in logistics in the past year.
The Covid-19 virus challenged GXO to find new solutions to help monitor and maintain social distancing at its sites to ensure employee safety. In response, GXO developed a “Social Distancing Wearable Technology” project, which earned the Il Logistico dell’Anno award for 2021.
The project uses bluetooth wearable devices that light up and vibrate when social distancing is not respected, both in terms of space (proximity of less than 1.5 meters) and time (more than 10 minutes). In addition, the devices monitor the number of contacts between employees and the daily trend to provide a precise analysis of the workplace environment, enabling GXO to implement initiatives to make the environment safer. The devices were distributed randomly among GXO employees. The recorded data is completely anonymous, in compliance with relevant privacy regulations.
