In 2015, Kingspan Insulation GB, one the fastest-growing building materials manufacturers, with operations across Europe, North America and Australasia, sought a dedicated transport solution.
The company needed a partner that could ensure time-critical deliveries, deliver outstanding service, support rapid growth, generatenew ideas for efficiencies andcommit to continuous improvement.
Kingspan also wanted a partner that could accommodate a range of vehicle types, including specialist vehicles with retractable roofs and vehicle-mounted MHE.
Solution
GXO strategically positioned three operations across the U.K. for Kingspan, supported by its transport network and hauler partners. GXO then replaced separate site-based planning with a dedicated centralized platform to optimize transport planning. The team also established satellite bases using night-trunking and cross-dock processes tosupport wider coverage, including for high-volume and remote regions.
GXO invested in a brand-new fleet, including specialized vehicles equipped with state-of-the-art in-cab technology. In addition, further technology investments such as GXO’s integrated transport management system (TMS) and sign-on-glass capture of proof of delivery improved customer service and order visibility, while delivering real-time track-and-trace.
Results
GXO created an award-winning, best-in-class transport solution, made possible by the collaborative and flexible partnership with Kingspan Insulation GB. By increasing vehicle fill and merging two independent transport networks into a single integrated network, GXO was able to improve fleet efficiency, reduce costs, increase adaptability to dynamic volumes, enhance service to Kingspan’s end consumers and reduce CO2 emissions across the customer’s supply chain.
