Both calmed and called

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Legacy Through Our DREAM

In today’s world, it seems everyone, every company is looking for ways to demonstrate and drive diversity. And no matter where we are — whether it’s the workforce, workplace or marketplace — we all find ourselves giving attention to and raising awareness for the things that matter most to people from every walk of life. As I reflect on what the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. mean to me, I feel both calmed and called.

I am calmed by the progress I see, hear and read about in our world. I am also called to reflect on and own my own contributions to our world by offering my level best to positively impact the generations to follow.

And although we have not arrived at our destination, at GXO we are focused daily on making progress in our diversity and inclusion journey. And we are committed to fostering a culture of belonging. I am proud to work with partner-leaders who share these values. I am proud to be a serving-leader — listening to, learning from and delivering toward those things that matter most to our colleagues.

I’m very proud to work for a company where DREAMS are still in reach.

Diversity.  Reciprocity.  Equality.  Accountability.  Morality.  Simplicity.

When I consider the intersectionality, connectedness and commitment to values we share at GXO, I see DREAMS take shape in this manner:

Diversity:  We appreciate, value and honor differences.

Reciprocity:  We regard our intersectionality as invaluable and uphold our dependence on and support for one another as critical for driving business results.

Equality:  We recognize all voices and create space for their contributions to shape our success and to keep us keen on perspectives of what is prudent and fair.

Accountability:  Our commitment to a culture of belonging does not rest in our words alone. It’s embodied in the acts we render as we live out our Be Inclusive Core Value.

Morality:  Of course, strides in diversity and inclusion call for “the right things to do,” yet we aim on our journey to live and share these values as both a professional and personal plan.

Simplicity:  We are not overthinking our pathway forward. We’re listening, learning and growing — together. Come grow with us!
